Graduate Talent Pool is managed on behalf of the Department for Education (DfE) by Graduate Prospects (Prospects). Graduate Prospects is the commercial subsidiary of the Higher Education Careers Services Unit (HECSU), a registered charity that supports the work of higher education careers services in the UK and Ireland and funds major research projects that benefit the higher education careers sector.

Protecting your privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Both DfE and Prospects are committed to safeguarding the personal information you provide to us and to protecting your privacy. The purpose of this privacy policy is to assist you in understanding how we, Graduate Prospects and DfE, use the personal information collected via this website, and the choices you can make about how your personal information is used.

The information we collect

You do not have to provide any personal information in order to browse this website. Any information you provide will be held within and used by Graduate Prospects as detailed in this privacy policy.

We will collect personal information about you when you register with us through the use of electronic registration forms. You are able to update the personal information we collect and hold about you at any time. This information includes:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • the university you attended;
  • your graduation date;
  • your subject of study;
  • your internship interests (sector, location); and
  • your application history.

In addition to your personal information, when you use our website, we may collect tracking information such as your browser type, the type of operating system you use, the name of your internet service provider and pages visited on the site.

Prospects gets this information by using technologies, including cookies, to increase the functionality and user-friendliness of our website and to better tailor our website to your needs. For example, we may want to know how long the average user spends on our website or which pages get the most attention. Information such as this will only be used in aggregate form and does not identify you personally.

You may, at any time, request a copy of the data Graduate Talent Pool hold on you, free of charge, my emailing gtpcustomerservice@prospects.ac.uk.

Graduate Prospects will securely hold your data until a period of three years after your registered date of graduation has expired. After this time, your data will be securely deleted.

How your information is used

We collect information on our users for a variety of purposes:

  • to help us improve and provide a personalised service to you;
  • to conduct market research;
  • to reply to your enquiries more efficiently through the services we provide;
  • so that we can inform you of new offers, products and services that may be of interest to you.

We also use information in aggregate form (i.e. your individual details cannot be identified) for the following purposes:

  • to build up marketing profiles;
  • to aid strategic development;
  • to manage our relationship with advertisers; and
  • to audit usage of the site.

Only specifically authorised employees of Graduate Prospects have access to your personal data.

Aggregated, statistical information is provided to the Department for Education on a monthly basis. No personally identifiable data is included in these reports, nor do the DfE have any access to this data.

How we share information with third parties

In order to send email communications to our registrants, we use a third-party email service provider. Data will be transferred to our email service provider for this purpose. Our email service provider is currently Salesforce, whose privacy policy is available at https://www.salesforce.com/company/privacy/?mc=marketingcloud.com/privacy-policy. We may, without notice, change our provider to one delivering similar services. Where this occurs, we will ensure that at least the same level of protection is applied to your personal information.

From time to time we may share anonymous information about visitors to this site with potential advertisers, business partners and sponsors, such as the number of users we have, their average age, location, etc. This information will be shared in a way that ensures your identity is not revealed.

The Department for Education is a public authority and, as such, may be subject to requests made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Graduate Prospects, as a limited company, are not subject to the same requirements but may be obliged to provide to the DfE, other information of a non-personally identifiable nature, as the result of such a request.

We may also disclose or access your account if required to do so by law.

Graduate Talent Pool uses session and persistent cookies, tags and other similar technologies as a means of collecting non-sensitive information on general website usage so that we may improve your experience on our website.
